Roulette is a classic casino game that was first played in France in the 17th century. The name Roulette means “little wheel” in French. It has grown over the years to become one of the most popular casino games with people trooping to casinos, and recently online casino platforms, to play the game. Just like any other sport, roulette has its own rules and regulations.
Roulette Rules and good to know
Rules are important in any game in order to create a level playing field for all the participants. Roulette Rules are designed to make it easy to place bets, claiming winnings and to guard the integrity of the sport. Roulette is played by different players who play against the house represented by a croupier.
Basics of Roulette
The croupier, as known as the dealer, is appointed by the casino to conduct the game. He spins the wheel, handles the wagers, makes the payouts and by extension enforce the Roulette Rules at his table. Online gaming platforms such as X Roulette have live dealers that are accessed through a live video feed for this purpose. The roulette wheel has 37 subdivisions representing 36 numbers labeled 1 to 36 and one zero. The numbers are arranged randomly and they are colored either red or black in an alternate format.
The objective of the game is to predict where the roulette ball will land after every spin of the wheel. Roulette is purely a game of chance but understanding the roulette rules increases your chances of success. Some players bet on specific numbers in almost every single bet believing that those numbers hold the key to their success. They call these numbers “hot”. Others study the pattern of outcomes and place their bets on numbers that have not come up in a while believing that their time is now.
Placing a bet
The players on a table are assigned different colored chips so as not to mix up their bets. Roulette chips are different from the regular casino chips and if you win at the end of a game, you exchange the casino chips with regular casino chips that you redeem for cash at checkout. To play roulette, players place a bet or multiple bets on the numbers on the table. The croupier then spins the wheel and launches the roulette ball. Just before the ball settles the croupier says ” no more bets” and no one can place or change their bets.
Types of bets
Roulette Rules stipulate that a player can place different types of bets with the odds of each bet dependent on its probability. The bets are either inside bets or outside bets. If a player places a bet on only one number that bet is known as a straight-up bet and it pays 35 to 1. A bet on two numbers is called a split-bet and it pays 17 to 1. A bet on three numbers is called a street-bet and it pays 11 to 1. A bet on four numbers pays 8 to 1 and it is known as a corner-bet. All these are inside bets. Outside bets are those in which the player bets on the outcome being an odd or even number, or the ball settling on a red or black segment. The pay is 1 to 1.
